GET TO KNOW ME
Hi, my name is Alexa Brabec, but you can call me Lex. I grew up in Steamboat Spring, CO, where I strapped on my first pair of skis at just 2 years old. I spent my childhood trying anything and everything sports and outdoor-related. I tried gymnastics, volleyball, mountain biking, swimming, and just about all of the ski sports before landing on my two favorites: soccer and nordic combined. I stuck with both soccer and nordic combined through high school, skiing for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club(SSWSC) and playing soccer for the Steamboat Soccer Club and Steamboat Springs High School. Although I was at a level to be skiing to be competing in Europe full-time while I was still in high school, I decided to continue to attend high school in person until I graduated summa cum laude in 2023. After graduating high school, I turned my focus to skiing. I moved to Lillehammer, Norway to train with the best. I am also taking classes online at the University of Utah where I am pursuing a bachelor's in Architecture.

Skiing is probably one of my biggest passions, one might say I eat, sleep, and breathe skiing. Skiing is like walking for me, and I don't really remember learning how to do it since I essentially started skiing when I started walking. Over the years I have tried just about every discipline of skiing(some with more success than others). I did ski racing from 8 to 10 years old, then tried my hand at mogul skiing and freestyle. Ironically decided I didn't like the jumps in mogul courses and switched to doing ski jumping and nordic combined. While I have been pursuing nordic combined competitively for the last 7 or 8 years, it hasn't stopped me from continuing to explore the other disciplines of skiing. I taught myself how to telemark ski with varying success, explored park skiing(also with varying success), and learned how to 360 and slide a rail(work in progress). I also backcountry ski and have even toured in the Lyngen Alps in Norway. For me, skiing is a great way to continue to push myself and learn new things, and be outside having fun with friends. I am so lucky to have skiing in my life, and it is a sport that I want to share with everyone.
